Tuesday, July 24, 2001 -- SOUTH HADLEY - William P. Manning, 65, of Brainerd Street, died July 20 at home. 
He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960 and later served in the National Guard. Mr. Manning worked for 20 years as a parts director at Balise Chevrolet in Springfield. 
He then worked at Bob Pion in Chicopee for three years, retiring in 1999. Previously, he had worked at Honda of Northampton and Beaulieu Chevrolet. 
He leaves his wife of 34 years, Lucille A. (Rathay) Manning; two nephews, Keith J. Griffin and Kenneth J. Griffin, both of Chicopee; and a niece, Kelly A. Sullivan of Westfield.  
A brother, Alfred J. Manning Jr., died in June.

The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa's Church, with burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, both in South Hadley.
